Bunker Refueling Optimization Software

Our newest software product - BOptimum - is a web-based Optimization software application developed for Bunker Refueling Planning and On Board Fuel Inventory Management.

BOptimum solves complex refueling planning which requires making repetitive decisions in a ever-changing market. Using dynamic programming, the Application recommends the lowest priced port(s) in a voyage's port string to refuel consecutively to ensure completion of the voyage with sufficient fuel (minimum company defined safety margin) on board on arrival at every port enroute and at last port in a defined voyage while ensuring safety margins met on arrival every port and at end of voyage.

Additionally, the forecasting module of BOptimum uses state-of-the-art, university-developed statistical techniques to combine historical pricing information with user’s own assessment of the future pricing dynamics. This blend of statistical and “gut-feel” forecasting allows user to predict a distribution of bunker prices at a selected ports on a selected future date. These predictions can be used to make informed fuel purchasing decisions or as indicators of fair values for the future swap contracts.
